Keynote speech by Professor Church in Future Technology and Precision Medicine Symposium,Singlera Genomics team visited vice Mayor of Shenzhen City for discussion of cooperation

On October 27, Professor George Church from Harvard Medical School, who is also a member the of US National Academy of Sciences, US National Academy of Engineering, and National Institute of Medical Sciences, and served as the chairman of scientific advisory board of Singlera Genomics, was invited to Shenzhen to participate in the “Future Technology and Precision Medicine Symposium” where he gave the keynote speech. The conference was hosted by professor and vice president of Fudan University, Jin Li. Professor Gao Yuan and Professor Zhang Kun, founding scientists of Singlera Genomics, also attended the conference and joined the discussion.

In his speech, Professor George Church gave a broad overview of the advances of frontier technologies in multiple genetic fields, including foresight in clinical practices in which he is a participating investigator, such as multi-molecular tagging of oligos, gene editing, and synthesis. The contents of his speech have triggered high interests and deep discussions. Professor Jeremy Nicholson from Imperial College London, and Professor Ren Bin from University of California, San Diego shared exciting ideas as well.

In the afternoon of that day, Professor George Church and a team from Singlera Genomics were invited to visit the Shenzhen Municipal Government and were interviewed by vice mayor Ai Xuefeng. Professor George Church discussed and compared the different environments of advanced biotechnology research and development and industrialization between the US and China. The discussion focused on Shenzhen City, where the municipal government provided an innovative environment and support for entrepreneurs. Vice mayor Ai Xuefeng introduced the innovative planning and successful experience of Shenzhen City. As representatives of the team, Professor Gao Yuan, chairman of Singlera Genomics, and scientific adviser Professor Zhang Kun, reported the developmental history and future planning of Singlera Genomics, focusing on the methylation based cancer screening products and a new-generation of prenatal non-invasive diagnostic products. Both products were highly appreciated by vice mayor Ai. Both sides continued with further discussions on future work opportunities and other topics of interest. Vice mayor Ai expressed wishes for success of Singlera Genomics in the future.
